In 1837, there were 25 pawn offices in Limerick. Patie Brown’s in Broad Street was one of these. Rumour has it that a one-legged verteran of WW1 regularly pledged his artificial leg at this office. When Browne’s pawn office closed an artificial leg was one of the aftefacts left behind.
